R. Tomasi is an Italian/Irish artist living in Ely, Cambridgeshire. Since 2021 he has given his full attention to design and creating. His work mainly centres around numbers, geometry, ratios and proportions. He has been described as ‘futurist’, perhaps due to having studied engineering in Italian Alps which has some close links to this early 20th century movement.

He approaches each piece as a problem that needs to be solved. Once decided on the theme, work starts with a pencil and paper, where sketches are developed, measured and balanced. Colour palettes are tested in various ways; on a computer, with pens or using tissue paper to see the effects of overlaying. From the end of 2023, Rick started to screen-print (photo emulsion), as many of his works are suited to this medium.

He was selected as a Guest Artist 2024 with Artworks East, a professional group of contemporary East Anglian artists, becoming an elected member in 2025. This led to joining the Gainsborough's House Print Workshop in Sudbury, Suffolk. One highlight of this year, so far, was having 'Red Chair' selected for the prestigious Royal Society of British Artists Annual Exhibition 2025.
